Portfolio - Restoration and Salvage
Everyone has old photos that have seen better days lying around. Why not turn them into works of art that are really something you'd like to hang on your "wall of honor"? This shot was taken back in the 1940'a. My grandmother, left, and mother, center, were fading away miserably, so I stepped in for the rescue! I LOVE this photo, and now I love it even more! I can help you love your light to medium restorations, too!
Go to linkSometimes a photo is especially precious. This one was of my mother's oldest friend, Sheila, who committed suicide when her husband decided he didn't want to be married anymore. Even more tragic was the fact that now, some 57 years later, her image was disappearing, as is her memory. I doubt there is anyone left alive who remembers her, so I felt it was up to me to preserve this. I gave it a look that reminds us of the eternal nature of our souls. She won't be forgotten by anyone who sees it!
Go to linkI remember this stuffed lion vividly. These are the kinds of images that we treasure; the ones that bring back the memories. Seiously yellowed with time and lacking highlights and lowlights, this photo needed specific and intense work to make it come to life. While the lion had to remain the golden orange color, I did not! If you have yellowing vintage photos, I can help!
Go to linkThis was taken by my grandfather some 55-56 years ago. The negative was stuck to another, and there was damage. I turned that damage into art, making it appear to be an intentional texture. I love the image now, warts and all! Do you have a photo, slide or negative that you think isn't salvageable? I will try my best to help.
Go to linkThe Florida Woodstork is somewhat endangered, so it's always a treat when one of the huge birds makes an appearance! Unfortunately, it was getting dark and all I was armed with was a point and shoot camera. The image was pretty poor! There are shots that will never have the clarity they should have, but those photos may still mean a lot to us. Turn them into an art piece! I will never forget following this stork around that day and the fun I had doing it! Let me help YOU!
Go to linkAre your old photos yellowing? No one wants to be part of the sepia generation before their time! This photo of me as a toddler was taken by my mother, who wasn't a great photographer. It was really cute, though, so I brought up detail and removed all that nasty yellow, which revealed a photo that any Grandma would love to hang on her wall! I can salvage yours, too!
Go to linkMy grandfather was a good photographer, but he didn't have a lab to process his photos, nor did he have the ability to keep them from degrading through the years. This shot of my grandmother from 1948 is one of my favorites. Cropped and with detail brought up, and noise taken down, it is gorgeous!
Go to linkPeople will eventually fade out of our lives. It's a sad fact that they move away or die. Their memories shouldn't fade away, though, and neither should their photos! I can help breathe life back into your vintage shots!
