Portfolio - Photographic Art
One way to achieve a more graphic, modern art style is with textures and layers. This was a self portrait that was heavily textured and manipulated to achieve a very dramatic effect. Each photo is different and no two will work with the same exact process. That's the art of it, and the fun!

The front hair was a wig, but all the "braids" were drawn on. The eyebrows were altered, as were the ears. My eye color was changed, too, and the background was removed with airbrush. I don't need costumes and backdrops to enhance a photo or make it whimsical!! All I need is a starting point and imagination.

Go to linkThis photo was of a sculpture in Tomoka State Park which is north of Daytona Beach. The large image tops a base with many other sculptures surrounding it, and tells the story of Chief Tomokie.

I really wanted to preserve the moment, though, as they were having so much fun! Turning it into an art piece with a modern, yet classic look, made it a memory that will last forever!

The original art of the statue is falling into ruin, and this was my way of preserving something vibrant and beautiful that would last for generations more.
Go to linkWeddings are some of the most special times in peoples' lives. Often, though, after a couple of years, the wedding album is relegated to the shelf, or closet, and the hanging portrait is taken down, replaced by photos of children or art prints. What a shame, when you can turn a photo into something much more artistic! This one was my own wedding photo taken back in 1984, by a photographer who wasn't very good, but worked cheap! I transformed it into what looks like a painting.
